📦 How Does Mail Know Where to Go?
Every day, boxes travel all over the world—carrying books, toys, clothes, and even cookies! But how does the mail know exactly where to send it?
It all starts with an address. When you write your name, street, city, and zip code on a box, it tells the postal workers where it needs to go. The box is scanned, sorted, and moved through mail centers by machines and people who work together to send it the right way.
Some boxes travel by truck, plane, or even boat. They might go through snow, rain, or heat to reach your front door. Once the box is close to you, a mail carrier brings it right to your house or school!
Boxes are designed to protect what’s inside. A good box is strong, has six faces (top, bottom, front, back, left, and right), and can open and close easily.
Did You Know?
Some shipping centers can sort over half a million boxes in a single day—that’s a lot of tape!
🧠Your Challenge:
Design a box that has six faces and can open and close. What shape will you use? Will it have a lid, flaps, or something totally new? Bonus points if it can carry something safely!
