🌉 How Does a Suspension Bridge Work?

A bridge helps people and vehicles cross over something—like a river, a valley, or even another road. But some bridges do more than just connect two sides… they suspend!

A suspension bridge hangs from long, strong cables. These cables are stretched between tall towers, and they hold up the road below. The weight is spread out across the cables, so the bridge doesn’t bend or break.

Suspension bridges can be really long—and really high! They’re built to be strong but flexible, so they can handle wind, weather, and heavy traffic.

Engineers test how much weight a bridge can hold and whether it stays steady when something rolls across it—like a bike, a car, or even a marble!

Bridges come in all shapes and sizes: arch bridges, beam bridges, and even rope bridges. Each one solves a different problem, depending on where it’s built.
