Have you ever gone to a park to swing, climb, or slide? Parks are special places made for people to play, relax, and enjoy nature. Some parks are small with just a few swings. Others are huge with trails, ponds, and even animals!
Most towns and cities have parks. These are called local parks, and they’re made for the people who live nearby. But did you know there are also state parks and national parks?
A state park is a big outdoor space protected by the state government. These parks are often filled with trees, lakes, and hiking paths. People visit to camp, fish, and see wildlife. Every state in the U.S. has at least one state park—some have over 100!
Parks are important. They give people a place to move their bodies, take deep breaths, and have fun with friends. They also keep nature safe and protect animals and plants.
Did You Know?
The first national park in the world was Yellowstone, and it’s filled with geysers and wild animals!
🧠 Your Challenge:
Design a playset that has the most areas to play—or one made just for a specific age group (like toddlers or teens!). What features would it need to be fun and safe?
