Slide STEM Challenge for Kids

🛝 What Games Do Kids Play Around the World?

Kids everywhere love to play—but not every playground looks the same! In some countries, kids fly kites. In others, they play games with marbles, balls, or even sticks. Some games are passed down from grandparents. Others are brand new!

But no matter where you go, there’s one playground favorite that shows up almost everywhere—the slide!

Slides are fun because they mix gravity and motion. When you climb up and sit at the top, gravity pulls you down—and whoosh! you slide to the bottom. The taller the slide, the more speed you build. The smoother the surface, the faster you go!

Slides can be straight, twisty, bumpy, or even shaped like animals. Some are made for one person, while others are wide enough to hold multiple people at once.

To be safe, slides need strong sides, a gentle curve at the bottom, and a surface that won’t burn little legs in the sun!

Did You Know?

The longest slide in the world is over 1,000 feet long and spirals down the side of a tall tower in London!

🧠 Your Challenge:

Design a slide that is tall, fast, or holds multiple people. How will you keep it safe and fun? What shape or material will make it slide the best?
