Easy Valentine Bag Idea

I’m so excited because February is here, which means it’s almost Valentine’s Day! I love celebrating Valentine’s Day in the elementary classroom because it is unique. You’ll want this easy Valentine bag idea, and I’ll share that in a bit.

Valentine’s Day is a day where we get to celebrate friendships, our loved ones, and focus on being kind.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it can be a little crazy celebrating Valentine’s Day in your classroom. So, let me help you with this easy Valentine Bag Idea.

Valentine STEM challenge

If your looking for some fun Valentine party ideas check out this blog post.

First, know that your students are going to be very excited. Many stayed up the night before filling out Valentine’s Day cards. While they’re only writing the names of other students, they are special to them. For many of them, this is the only time of the year when they’ll get to share a hand-written card with another person.

It’s important to honor their excitement and celebrate their generosity. Try to set aside a designated time for your students to exchange cards.

I love to use this Valentine bag idea because it’s inexpensive and fun to make.

All you need is a lunch bag, construction paper, and some glue.

Students cut a heart shape. Then, they fan fold four paper strips, cut eyes and a mouth, and glue them together.

I use this template for my primary students if that sounds like a lot. It’s great practice for following directions and an excellent fine motor exercise.

I line these bags along our whiteboard and send our table groups one at a time to pass out cards.

For my kindergartners, I have a paraprofessional assist two students at a time in passing our their Valentine’s cards.

I like to give my students a little Valentine’s Day surprise. They get a  free homework coupon and a pencil. They love it! It’s editable and only takes a minute to fill out.

If you’re wondering when we open our bags, we wait until the very end of the Day. I do this because there might be candy in the bag, and we don’t allow that in the classroom.

Have a happy Valentine’s Day! I hope that your class has a super fun time with this Valentine bag idea. Grab this Valentine bag from my Teachers Pay Teachers shop here.
